ATLANTA CAGERS November 12th, 2003 On October 25th, sixty eight (68) boys and girls attended an evaluation event @ Dobbs Creek. THANK YOU to all that attended. Final selections have not been made. All teams will continue to accept applications from players and/or parents. If you did not attend and have an interest in playing basketball in the spring you should send an email to Basketball@CagerHoops.net and indicate your name, date of birth, grade, school and contact phone number. Many parents in Forsyth County that were involved with this activity last spring did not attend our evaluation sessions last fall. A friend referred us. Realistically each team needs at least 10 players per gender and age group to conduct a meaningful practice and provide adequate financial resources for a productive season. There are many teams that have not achieved this objective. In particular, the 10 u, 11U and 16 u boys and 10 u girls groups are very small at this time. In addition, coaches are needed for the 10 u groups - boys and girls - and the 16 u boys. If someone has an interest in coaching please email us with contact information. AAU and YBOA offer a highly competitive level of basketball that begins in late February 2004 and continues through May 2004. The Atlanta Cagers organized 11 teams' last year - 7 girls and 4 boys' teams - 133 players in total. In regards to ages - For girls it is their age as of January 1, 2004; for boys it is their age as of August 1, 2004. Boys teams are allowed three grade exception players which means a boy can be a year older if he is in the same grade as the main age group, i.e. a 14 year old boy could play on the 13 u team if he is in the seventh grade. |
