Info for CoachesPlaying OptionsThere are several paces that your team can play. They include:
AAU and YBOA tournaments follow a pool play format. For an entry fee (usually $225-$250) your team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. There will normally be four teams in your pool, and you will play one pool opponent Friday evening and the other two on Saturday. The pool winner (and sometimes the second place team as well, depending on the number of entrants) will advance to a championship round on Sunday. Trophies and medals are provided to the winner and runner up. AAU and YBOA attract strong competition and there will be at least one tournament every week from March through June. Weekly tournaments are held throughout the metro Atlanta area, and if your budget permits you may travel to regional or national tournaments as well. Saturday Ball is a more informal playing experience. For a $60 entry fee your team will get two games on a Saturday morning. The organization will provide referees and keep score, but there is no tournament format and the winners do not receive trophies or medals. These are typically excellent "tune-up" type events. Games are typically played at Pinckneyville Middle School off 141 or at Best Friends Park off Jimmy Carter Blvd. Club tournaments are also an option. Networking with other coaches during the above events or checking websites for other organizations will alert you to these special events. The Cagers 10U girls played in the Oconee County Classic last season, and the Georgia Pistols and NEA Suwanee Hawks both sponsored tournaments of their own. |
