Parent Communication

Good communication with players and parents is essential for a successful season. This may be the first experience some of the families have with competitive versus recreational league sports. We strongly suggest a pre-season meeting to clarify expectations. The following guidelines are provided for your convenience.

  • Playing time is based on a combination of ability and effort. Being on the team does not guarantee any amount of playing time. There may be games when your child does not play.
  • Roster size can technically expand to 15. Many teams will not suit up that many, but players may be added over the course of the season to fill specific needs.
  • Players are expected to be at every practice and to show up on time. Unexcused absences and chronic tardiness will result in a loss of playing time.
  • Parents and players are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Rude, unsportsmanlike, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated. Parents must remember that this is just basketball...NBA and WBNA careers will not be made or lost because of how the Cagers fare.
  • We will try to put our teams in position to win every game, but bear in mind that we are competing against teams that play 12 months a year and recruit the entire southeast for players. We will probably not go undefeated.
